First Words .......................................................... : Howdy folks, welcome to a fresh HugiNews. As you have already noticed, the layout has slightly changed. The ascii logo is the one that will be used in the Hugi #18 .nfo-file, so you already have a kind of preview. There is some more internal news. First of all, let me announce that Hugi and CFXweb, an online demo and game development resource run by Civax/Moon Hunters that is located at http://cfxweb.planet-d.net/, have decided to share their news. This agreement has already taken effect in the previous issue of HugiNews, which used some news items from CFXweb and in return all news items of which were used in CFXweb. I posted many news items to CFXweb before finishing this HugiNews issue. Civax edited some of them. He mainly compressed the style of the text and removed irrelevant information. Thereupon I decided to use these more compact versions of the news in HugiNews, too. In order for more transparency, I have decided to include some additional information in every news item. Now you can see who actually sent us the news and who edited the text. Let me explain this: "Posted by" specifies the person who decided to publish this news in HugiNews or CFXweb. Either is this the person who sent me (or Civax) the original news item and asked us to publish it. Or it is one of us -Civax and me- in persona: We might have received this news via bulk e-mail with the wish to spread this news, or we might have read it in a newsgroup and found it interesting. In this case, the origin of the news is specified ("based on news from"). "Edited by" signals that the text has been modified (replenished, compressed, commented, corrected,...) and specifies by whom. One word about the Prologue of the last HugiNews issue, in which I wrote: "13 kbyte of news in my personal news file gives almost 4 kbyte of news for the public." This is a very brief description of the process of making HugiNews. All the news I get are stored in my personal news file. The actual creative process means taking the news items from this news file, removing information already known to the targeted readers, and "compressing" the rest. This is how 13 kbytes of raw news material were shrinked to a newsletter of 4 kbyte. Happy reading, and see you next week. - Adok (Hugi Core & Royal Family) . :........................................................................ ..
