First Words .......................................................... : Good morning Vietnam. Time is passing by very fast. Another HugiNews issue has to be made. In the meantime, I've just edited 400 kbyte of articles for Hugi #18. There are still some 200 kbyte to go. And then I have to format all the Russian translations, for the Russian edition of Hugi #18 is supposed to be released simultaneously with the international one. When can you expect the mag to be released? All I can say: It's planned for December. As soon as I've finished the remaining works, it will be released. We at the Hugi Core never artificially delay the release of our mags. Happy reading, and see you next week. - Adok (Hugi Core & Royal Family) . :........................................................................ .. News ................................................................. : Hugi Size Coding Competition #10 launched! Welcome to the Hugi Size Coding Competition #10. Just like the famous y2k (or 'millennium') bug you must attempt to reach the magic number 00, but this time with the size of your ENTRY.COM program. The task is to create the smallest possible Taquin puzzle game. This is the first competition that will count for the World League Table of 2000, so even if you are new to this compo series, you have great chances to get first in the World League Table! The deadline was over on Dec. 5, but you can still submit your products to the compo site. What's the theme? "FUN is the keyword!" Posted by Civax, edited by Adok. He did a "outsb" which the emus don't cover. It's a similar bug to the one he found under dos with emm386. If you want a more compatible version of void-3, either mail him or download it at the downloads section of the Doose Charts site. Posted by Adok, based on news from Franky. Article .............................................................. : Undocumented hidden parts in demos. Written by SunmaN/PFC. There are secret keys in Theta by Quad. When the intro asks you about your GUS port number, you may input "L" or "S" (in upper case). It turns on the Load data mode or Save data mode respectively. The intro loads or saves textures and music from/onto the disk. The 64K Erratic also has such feature, but I don't know how to turn it on (without a debugger). When I debugged Sunflower by Pulse, I found there many commandline switches, most of them described in the list of Demo Hidden Parts, except one - it's the switch "-femeanine". With it, the demo writes a hidden message to Sofia. I don't know who she is, maybe Unreal's girlfriend? And in Dive, a demo by Universe for Bytefall '99, there's a commandline switch "made", which makes the demo write a file called enter1.jpg with a picture to the disk. _ SunmaN/PFC _ mailto:sunman_pfc@mail.ru _ The Top Ten Clues.
