First Words .......................................................... : Hiya all! This day started very promisingly, and indeed it was a promising day: I'd now had enough time to recollect my energies in order to really start working on the next Hugi issue (19). I've realized the importance of Hugi for the demoscene as an independent, impartial and objective platform supporting new as well as established demosceners. There are already promises to finish drafts for the missing background graphics soon, so it should be possible to get new ones for Hugi #19 and future issues -- and if not, it will still be possible to use the widely accepted background graphics from Hugi #15 and Hugi #17. I'll start pre-formatting the articles I have received so far. I'm also doing new interviews and organizing new text-contributions. We are interested in articles on any topics you find important and interesting to our readers. The deadline is April 12, 2000, so send me your texts until this date (mailto:hugi@netway.at). I've adopted Scenet's news "layout" for more clearity and now include the links in the news bodies for better readability. Happy reading, and see you next week. - Adok (Hugi Core & Royal Family) . :........................................................................ .. News ................................................................. : Assembly 2000 Party. * There will be 4000 tickets in total, 2000 of them for computer places. Normal tickets will be available all the time starting on May 10. Advance ticket sales will end on July 19. * Instead of 100% public voting, there will be 20% jury voting, 20% "oldskool" (invited) sceners voting and 60% public voting to prevent that joke productions beat quality productions again (remember the pathetic quality of the winning 4k intro in 1999, matriisi, compared to some of the lower ranked intros!). "That are artists, curators, theorecticans and so on (maybe you know "Ars Electronica" Exhibition in Linz/Austria????). I initiated and programmed the portalsite to that scene to be found under http://www.verybusy.org - center for hardwired arts. The Site features tons of automous and dynamic tools like, coverart uploads, collaborativ exhibition calendar, user generated search database for project covering net- and mediaart, file up/download, chat, discussion and mediatheoretic publications." * The official homepage of Dj Mellownoise, musician and member of Infect, is http://www.mellow.de. Posted by Civax, edited by Adok. Park: Artist needed for a musicdisk Cover. * We've just got a word from frank stiegler, aka netpoet, about the making of a new musicdisk by his group PARK. Apperantly then need an artist to do the cover. Here is the original msg: * "We - that is velvet, a-move, falcon, xenon and myself - are planning a ew music group that will feature our very own (maybe already known) music styles, PARK. We plan park to be a ring of friends who like to keep the music melodious, ambient, trippy, you name it. whoever has heard anything from either one of us knows what I'm talking about. Our first music project will be a music disk featuring tracks from all of us, and we would definitely like to have a nice cover for it. The ep is going to be called "melancholik ep", which is a word pun between "melancholy" and "cholic". the tracks will be really downtempo and ambient. we kept it nice and smooth, with a touch of triphop. So, if you are a graphician and you can spend a couple of moments on painting a cover for our beloved ep, we'd be very thankful." * If you feel you can help out here, contact netpoet at mailto:netpoet@netpoet.de. http://park.planet-d.net Posted by netpoet, edited by Civax and Adok.
